"Praise the thumb of Nuffle. Cheer when the thumb is up and another of your plays hits home. Smile and shrug when the thumb is down, allowing for an unexpected course of events and giving your opponent a chance at making a spectacular play himself. For sure, next time Nuffle will smile upon you as he justly gives and takes in the greater scheme of throwing millions of dice."

GW 2nd Ed Skaven - a classic team

A good blog about tabletop Blood Bowl requires some pictures of painted miniatures !

So enter my Skaven team from 2nd edition Blood Bowl by Games Workshop :

GW 2nd Ed Skaven team + 2 Rat Ogres
The team was sculpted by Jes Goodwin and released in July 1988 (Stuff of Legends). I painted it in the spring - summer of 2015. It is an assembly of several eBay auctions which I combined to finally collect all 17 different models.

4 Skaven Catchers - fastest players in the game
I added Sark Four-Eyes from the Chaos All-Stars team by Phil Lewis as a 3rd Catcher (the 2-headed player). For the 4th Catcher I added a third arm to a double of one of the Catcher models. Mutants rock.

8 Linemen and 2 Kickers - Skaven collectors are spoiled !
The team is great on display, unfortunately the majority of the Linemen will never see the pitch or even a team roster ! With Skaven counting 9 positionals, a maximum of 7 Linemen can be signed up. But a 16-player Blood Bowl team is rare unless you like to spoil your opponent with inducements. So only a select group of the 10 Linemen figures (including the 2 Kickers for which there currently are no separate rules) will enjoy the pleasure of being positioned on the Line of Scrimmage on Defence !

Headsplitter and a "rookie" Rat Ogre
I included 2 Rat Ogres to complete the team. 1 Rat Ogre is Headsplitter, the Games Workshop 3rd Ed Blood Bowl Star Player sculpted by Gary Morley. The other Rat Ogre is from the old Warhammer range, but not as old as the "small" Warhammer Rat Ogre you occasionally see with this Skaven team.

Hope to add some picture of the Blockers and especially the Throwers, as the latter are somewhat considered as iconic Blood Bowl miniatures.
